Community update
September Update: People, Circles, and the Path Ahead
A new Women’s Circle, people joining the work, and our vision for a lasting home in Six Nations.

A new circle.
September brought a new place for people to connect at SixMiles. Our Women’s Circle began on September 15 and held its third meeting on September 29.
Hattie Anderson helped start the circle during her Willis College practicum with SixMiles Solutions. She supports grant research, applications, and outreach for the circle, SixMiles, and 7Sticks, and plans to join SixMiles Solutions after completing her practicum.
People behind the work.
Our team includes three people with Native Inmate Liaison Officer experience and one in training. Their knowledge of correctional settings and the challenges of returning home helps shape our reintegration program.
We work alongside Native Horizons for guidance and intend to work with GREAT on trade pathways and certifications. Elders, traditional healing, and an understanding of intergenerational trauma remain central to our approach.
A stronger connection to community.
Miles joined the Six Nations Community Safety Table at its second meeting and is helping develop its written work. Tim Bucci brought departmental leaders together around community safety and mental health, and has offered to work alongside and mentor Miles.
A lasting home.
We have administrative space and housing capacity for two Six Nations community members in Ohsweken. For the next chapter, funding is in place for our planned permanent centre and micro-home community.
We are designing the reintegration program around employment, daily responsibilities, and evening meetings focused on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Section 81 transfer and Section 84 community release planning pathways are being established with the required agreements and approvals.
The centre will create room for people to settle, reconnect, and build toward their next steps. We welcome employers, service partners, volunteers, and supporters who want to be part of that work.
